The Cordillera Blanca, or White Mountain Range, is the world's most extensive tropical glacial mountain range, with over 700 individual glaciers. It's a seemingly endless expanse of peaks, with so many over 6,000m that Ishinca, a 5,500m behemoth in its own right, looks like a small knob. In 2025 I had the chance to summit Ishinca and walk amongst the giants Tocllaraju, Palcaraju, and Ranrapalca, towering over the valley and over the Ishinca summit itself. With great weather conditions and a breathtaking sunrise, it's one of the most spectacular ascents I've had the luck to do.
